We had a really tight shooting schedule as it got dark around about 4 and Louie was getting pick at 4:30 really wanted to film the shots at the amphitheatre at sunset as it would look really nice with the sun setting over Sheffield city skyline. Louie didn’t arrive until 09:30 so from the start we knew we would struggle to get everything filmed in time. Luckily the first location was outside Beth’s house and hopefully wouldn’t take as long as we planned.
Once we got everything set up it began to rain after the
second take, as group we decide that we would have to change the ending of the
last film so we show Louie grabbing a coat which he could wear under his space
suit. This scene took a lot longer to shoot then it should have done down to
the weather, so we was quite behind our original schedule. In the taxi to our
next location we had a look at the shots we needed and decided to try film
everything in the first park which would save use time, we could spend longer
on each shot and we wouldn’t be rushing to our next location.
When we got to the location Ellie went to find a café where
we could have lunch and we started filming. Recording sound was a little bit of
a prord location. blem as park was directly next to busy out a ring road in Sheffield, I had a little bit of a problem with the Zoom as for some reason it was just draining the batteries and every five minutes I would have to change them. The weather held off which was good we managed to film all the shots on the round about and the shots of Louie walking into the park. The rain got heavier so we decided to go back to our original plan and go to the 3
The park was quite close to Hannah’s house so while Louie
was having his lunch a couple of use went to the park and set up the equipment.
The park was a lot nicer then the first one and had a lot more equipment. Once
Louie finished his lunch we start filming straight away, as we where aware of
the time we worked a lot more efficiently as a group. We filmed on the climbing
frame first, Louie had a little bit of dialogue, “scouting location” as the
they was so much background noise I decided to that I would ADR the dialogue
once we got back to the house, the line was only a couple of words so wouldn’t
be too hard to match up in the edit. We then filmed on the swing and then the
roundabout, I got some really nice recording of footsteps as Louie walk around
the playground and up the ladders to the slide.
I had a really good idea of what I was going to do at this moment, as
Louie climbs the stairs the fantasy/imagination sounds would get louder and
louder and then when he reaches the top the sounds would just stop and you hear
the an average outside atmos before all the fantasy/imagination sounds where bought
back in to the mix. We quickly filmed
the last scene of Louie completing his space training before we moved to the
next location at the amphitheatre.
Because it had rained all day the shots at amphitheatre weren’t
hoe I imagined, Sheffield skyline was ruined by the clouds and everything just
looked really dull. We didn’t have much to film just a couple of scenes of him
walking, taking his space outfit off and sitting down. However by this time the
sun had already set and we didn’t have any portable lights. Hopefully Valarie
can make it work but this is a scene I would possible like to film again if we
had the time. Overall I’m very happy with how we all worked as a group, we
faced a lot of problems through out the day with weather, but we managed to get
everything filmed.
